How many of the best books of 2015 have you read?

GOODREADS, ONE OF the world’s leading websites for book recommendations, has announced the winners of the 2015 Goodreads Choice Awards.

And according to Goodreads recommendations, these are the best books of 2015. (You might want to bookmark this for when you want to figure out what to spend your Christmas book vouchers on…) 

1. Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee

The long-awaited sequel to To Kill A Mockingbird came out on top to be named as the best fiction book of 2015.

2.  After You by Jojo Moyes

After You is the sequel to Me Before You, a novel which sold millions of copies and was described by The New York Times as an “emotional typhoon”.

And it looks like After You has had the same effect on readers…

A film adaptation of Me Before You, starring Emilia Clarke, will hit cinemas next spring. You know what to do.

3. The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

It’s essentially just fan fiction about Prince William and Kate Middleton from the women behind Go Fug Yourself.

Quality guilty pleasure reading.

4. A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

A Little Life may be 720 pages long, but the novel following the lives of four friends in New York City over the course of a decade has struck a chord with readers and critics alike. It even ended up on the shortlist for the Man Booker Prize.

5. My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman

This novel from Swedish author Fredrik Backman tells the story of a 7-year-old whose grandmother dies and leaves behind a series of letters, sending her on an epic adventure.

Charming and lovely by all accounts.

6. Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff

Fates and Furies is an examination of a marriage, told from the points of view of both the husband and the wife. One of the most widely acclaimed novels of the year, it has earned comparisons to mega bestseller Gone Girl.

7. Inside The O’Briens by Lisa Genova

This novel, from the author of Still Alice, tells the story of an Irish Catholic family in Massachusetts truggling with a father’s devastating diagnosis  with Huntington’s Disease.

8. Girl of War by Sara Novic

Novic’s debut novel follows a young girl who travels from the horrors of war in Zagreb to start a new life in the United States.

9. Our Souls At Night by Kent Haruf

Our Souls at Night was published months after writer Kent Haruf’s death. It follows two septuagenarians who embark on a friendship following the deaths of their other halfs.

10. Trail of Broken Wings by Sejal Bedani

Finally, Trail of Broken Wings follows Sonya, a photographer who returns home after her father falls into a coma, and is forced to reacquaint herself with the family she ran away from years before.
